Pause

Well, I'll be jiggered: there I was, all motivated, roaring through the typos and corrections, when I realised that the footnotes were all missing! I've had to stop as the pages will all change again. I have written to the scanner chap in emergency-style and must now wait to see how they can be retrieved.
There also appear to be spelling errors which are not in the book: I saw from his email that he had made alterations.. I am not too happy about this. Monster task made monsterer as I will have to re-check everything.
Grrr.

Hi Helen - just catching up! Hope all the computer related problems have been sorted out - I think those things were invented to torment us! I've always liked Ken Livingstone (but not his politics!) but have never been keen on Michael potillo - I always find him smarmy!! I wish the govt would get tough with the damn bankers - Success should be rewarded, but not with such large amounts!!

Thank you, I spent the day yesterday under house-arrest waiting for sporadic calls from the computer repair person. It's fixed! Phew.
Well, I can recommend going to an event like the live broadcast. I never liked Portillo either, there is definitely something smarmy about him, but I was quite surprised to hear him talking sense (most of the time). Maybe he is going through an exciting transformation....

The Family Cat's 'Bring Me The Head Of Michael Portillo' is still an excellent record though. And due a re-release/proper release, given it was subject to a government ban in 1994 when it first came out. You can find it on Youtube but can't buy it anywhere.

I'll take a look at that; and remember that saying about a leopard not changing its spots!
